‘1400 REASONS TO VOTE’: A CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED BY UKIP IN SOUTH YORKSHIRE FOLLOWING THE PCC ELECTION RACE
UK Independence Party has recently initiated a forceful campaign that disparages Labour Party for the scandal involving Rotherham child abuse in which approximately 1,400 children were ill-treated over the period of 1997 – 2013.
The headlines are being made by the poster which the UKIP has recently launched, as a part of the election campaign (mentioned above) for their contender for the elections, Jack Clarkson. Clarkson is the UK Independent Party’s contender in the approaching South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Election. As for the poster, it portrays a distressed girl and reads “There are 1,400 reasons why you should not trust Labour again.”
The Rotherham scandal was exposed in August when a report was released blaming the Labour-run administration of the town mainly for turning a blind eye to the abuse for a long time. The following uproar by the public ultimately resulted in the resignation of Shaun Wright, South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner. Therefore, by-elections had to be arranged to appoint a new man on 30th October.
Moreover, Jack Clarkson has been reported as saying that it is an extremely distressing fact that people have been disappointed by the Labour Party in Southern Yorkshire. He further said that politicians were more concerned with trendy ideas during their governance instead of the protection of children in streets which ultimately resulted in the abuse of so many children.
Clarkson is an ex-police officer with a working experience of more than 30 years in many places including Rotherham. He currently is an elected councilor in his local community.
