A four-year-old boy was killed when a suspected drink driver crashed into his home as he slept
A fundraising page has been set up for Jonah Stilles’ family
Jonah Stilles was on the top bunk bed in the room he shared with two of his brothers when the truck hit the side of the family’s house in Sheffield, Texas.
Jonah’s brothers miraculously survived the crash.
A neighbour, Andy Vanderwier, said the boy’s father stepped out on to the porch of the home after hearing the truck being driven erratically.
“At a high rate of speed, he [the driver] missed the corner at the edge of town, and the dad [Stille] having just stepped off the porch watched the truck plow into the house,” Vanderwier told local media.
The Stilles only recently moved to Texas from Illinois and will return there to bury Jonah.
A fundraising page has been set up to help the family with funeral-related costs and assistance as they look for a new home.
“Though the Stilles have not lived in Sheffield long, they have become a part of the community and are loved by many,” the gofundme.com page said.
Jonah leaves behind his mother, father and five brothers, one of whom was his twin.
The man suspected of crashing into the Stille’s home was arrested and is being held in the Pecos County jail.
His identity has not yet been revealed.
