Emmerdale fans were left stunned last night when it was revealed Ross Barton – apparently beaten to death by his brother – was still alive
Ross Barton has returned to Emmerdale – three weeks after he was presumed dead
Thousands of fans signed a petition demanding the return of Ross, played by Mike Parr, after seeing Pete Barton bury him in the woods following a violent showdown.
And three weeks on, fans have got exactly what they asked for – he’s back from the dead.
Viewers saw Barton hooked up to monitors in hospital at the conclusion of last night’s episode.
“Surprise guys I’m back from the dead – no longer brown bread,” Parr said in a video message to fans.
“It’s been a nightmare keeping this secret from you guys – I feel so bad. We’ve tricked you; this was part of the story all along.”
Parr even apologised to his Granddad after making him “lie in church” about his character’s fate.
Footage from upcoming episodes shows Ross phoning his ex-lover Debbie Dingle – his brother’s wife – from his hospital bed.
He is also seen coming face to face with Pete again, saying: “Hello bruv – bet you weren’t expecting to see me again.”
