HSBC customers without pay after technical glitch

HSBC customers have been left without their salaries after the bank suffered a glitch thought to be linked to the Bacs payment system

The bank apologises to customers after Bacs issues delay payments

Users complained on Twitter that payments were being held up on a day when many employees would be expecting to be paid ahead of the Bank Holiday.

The bank also issued a statement:

We are aware that some customers have not received expected credits today. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

It is unclear how many customers have been affected but the bank is investigating the cause of the problem.

Bacs confirmed that the issues are restricted to HSBC and are not affecting other banks.

The Bank of England and Financial Conduct Authority have said they are working closely with the bank to resolve the problems.
