Thousands of people were emailed personal information of WHSmith customers in a mass email due to a “systems bug”
A processing ‘bug’ has resulted in the personal details of dozens of WHSmith customers being sent out to thousands of magazine subscribers
Personal details including addresses and phone numbers gathered from the retailer’s ‘contact us’ form has been sent to up to 30,000 magazine subscribers.
Angry customers have complained on social media but WHSmith in a statement on their Facebook page said that the glitch had only “impacted 22 people”.
In a vicious cycle, some people used the contact form to report the information leak leading to more messages being sent out.
